This classification has a long tradition and reflects rather the problems to be resolved by the specialists in the field of cement chemistry, with aim to improve the durability of concrete in the more fiequently occurring aggressive enviromnents. The sulphate corrosion is here a typical, common example, which led to the invention of calcium aluminate cement by Bied (ciment fondu). The deterioration of concrete by de-icers, used in millions tons (for example in the USA in winter 1966/1967 6.3 milliont [62]), became a serious problem. The cost of bridges repairs in USA in 1975 was 200 million [63].

Novel material options are being explored as matrix fdlers in NGCs. Recently, a sericin/silicone-based NGC was fabricated and used as a long-term implant in vivo. Sericin conduit wrapped with a silicone conduit was used for the bridging repair of a 5-mm gap in a rat sciatic nerve transection model. These double conduits achieved functional recovery comparable to autologous nerve graft and, importantly, positive results were mainly attributed to sericin (Xie et al., 2015). 

Uses. Dental solders and fluxes are used to join orthodontic wires, fasten attachments to partial dentures, repair castings units, and join crown and bridge units either before or after the appHcation of porcelain. They may also be used to repair fixed and removable dental appHances. 

Myriad FRP products are available for either the repair or the outright replacement of existing structures. In addition to chemical-process pipes and tanks, FRP composite products include structural shapes, bridge systems, grating, handrail ladders, etc. 

The old bridge s steel were rusty and in need of repair. 

There are perhaps hundreds of miscellaneous unsaturated polyester resin construction applications. These would include window frames, doors, cabinet enclosures, electrical boxes, etc. In addition, recent developments bode well for unsaturated polyesters in construction markets. Concrete rebar, bridge construction and general infrastructure repair are examples of growing construction applications.
