Brass regulators

If you are using a corrosive gas, it is imperative to use a stainless steel regulator. Otherwise, a brass regulator is sufficient. [Pg.284]

Essentially 316SS (stainless steel) is the best material to use in a hydrogen system. Brass can be used occasionally, if it is downstream far enough from the caustic after a variety of scrubbing and filtering operations have been performed. Plated brass regulators and other components can be a cost effective alternative to stainless steel for some components. Still, if brass is used, it needs to be watched. [Pg.381]

Cyclopropane is one of the most potent anaesthetics administered by inhalation with the help of a brass regulator. The chief merits of this anaesthetics over others are due to its non-irritant nature and rapid recovery from anaesthesia. Its demerits include depressant effects on respiration, tendency to induce cardiac arrhythmias and to enhance haemorrhage. [Pg.108]

Metal powders or fibres ignite in an oxygen-fed resonance tube [1], There have been fires in aluminium pressure regulators for oxygen. Aluminium and its alloys can become flammable at as low a pressure as 2 bar. Aluminium regulators are being replaced by brass, use of aluminium cylinders is still regarded as safe [2]. [Pg.32]

The descent of the cylinder was centred by the steel collar, and hard chrome steel plates, cut with a slot, could be placed on this collar to stop the piston-head at any point m its descent. The cylinder was held by an iron frame, which rested upon a large concrete bed. It was surrounded by a brass water-jacket, not shown in the figure, for regulating the temperature. [Pg.111]

Ai and A2 are the glass plates, their optically flat surfaces facing each other. At is attached to a spring F of known resilience with the aid of frame B and holder D, both made of brass, A2 rests on the pins T on top of three boxes K. These boxes were fixed to three micrometer movements regulating roughly the position of A2 towards Ai. [Pg.212]

If the thermostatic control is obtained with gaseous nitrogen, a metallic cell holder can be used. A cell holder consists of an outer brass cylinder with the thermostatically regulated nitrogen flow circulating inside. Holes can be made in the cylinder in order to allow optical observations. To avoid condensation and ice formation on the walls at low temperatures, the cell holder is isolated in a sample compartment overpressurized with dry nitrogen. This kind of apparatus is used for spectroscopic determinations at subzero temperatures (Maurel et al., 1974). [Pg.140]

The only regulator used in this system is a line regulator rated for hydrogen. It is brass and thus has to be watched for corrosion. A better regulator would be nickel plated brass or stainless steel. Because this was an experimental unit destined only for seasonal work, this was not a particular issue with us. [Pg.83]
