Bond degree index

Note that the bond order index defined by Mayer accounts for the covalent contribution to the bond (this is why of late it is often mentioned as shared electron pair density index, SEDI). As such, the index cannot be expected to produce the integer values corresponding to the Lewis picture if a bond has a significant ionic contribution. The bond order index defined in this way measures the degree of correlation of the fluctuation of electron densities on the two atoms in question [7]. [Pg.307]

The Randic connectivity index, X, is also called the connectivity index or branching index, and is defined by Eq. (18) [7], where b runs over the bonds i-j of the molecule, and and dj are the vertex degrees of the atoms incident with the considered bond. [Pg.411]

The perturbation of the PMD symmetry is accompanied by a decrease in the charge alternation and by the appearance of bond alternation from one end group to another. The bond alternation ampHtude has been revealed to be proportional to the asymmetry degree, which can be calculated as the difference of topological indexes = 4>gj — 4>gg. The effect is maximum if Tgj > 45° and Tgg < 45°. If A4>j2 = 90°, the ideal polyene state is... [Pg.491]

Kier and HaU extended the definition of the 5 connectivity index in order to incorporate heteroatoms and multiple bonds in the definition of the connectivity index % [13-15]. They noticed that the 5 connectivity (atom degree) may be expressed as ... [Pg.88]

The ratio of oleic acid to stearic acid (O/S) is another parameter used for assessing the degree of ageing of a lipid paint binder. This ratio is considered as an index of oxidation because the oleic acid double bond is particularly reactive towards oxidation, so normally the content of oleic acid in aged paintings is very low, with an O/S value around 0.1 0.2 [55]. [Pg.199]

Sulfur. Thiophene and benzo[ >] thiophene are both aromatic heterocycles, as discussed earlier in this review. Isothiazole is a planar molecule with an aromaticity comparable with those of thiazole and pyrazole, and higher than those of isoxazole and oxazole,122 140 as evaluated on the basis of Bird s aromaticity index A, based upon the statistical degree of uniformity of the bond orders of the ring periphery. Theoretical calculations and experimental data in connection with the aromaticity of isothiazole have been reviewed.141 Thiazole is also viewed as an aromatic molecule, similar to thiophene. It lacks an experimental aromaticity value, but the heat of formation together with bond lengths and angles have been calculated by various computational meth-... [Pg.20]

Many compounds containing either single or multiple bonds between N and S show a considerable degree of instability. Information is given on hazards of, and precautions in handling derivatives of cyclic N-S compounds [1], Individually indexed compounds are ... [Pg.290]

Figure 7. Relationship of oxidation and degree of polyunsaturation. Polyunsaturation is measured as the methylene bridge index (MBI), which is a more precise measure of extent of unsaturation and oxidizability than the double bond index. It is the mean number of 6is-allylic methylene bridge positions per fatty acid (or fatty acyl chain) in a lipid ensemble. The rate of lipid radical formation measures formation of an oxidative product, while O2 consumption (% O2 lost per sec) is a measure of utilization of a reactant. (Drawn using our data abstracted from Wagner, B.A., Buettner, G.R., and Bums, C.P. 1994, Biochemistry 33 4449-4453). Figure 7. Relationship of oxidation and degree of polyunsaturation. This method derives from the observation that the degree of enrichment in a set of cogenetic silicate minerals (expressed as oxygen isotope index I- 0) can be related to bond strengths in minerals (Taylor, 1968). The oxygen isotope index for phase A is defined by... [Pg.774]

A further extension of this approach was done by Kier and Hall8> so as to provide different values of the connectivity index for molecules depicted by one and the same graph, but differing by the chemical nature of atoms as well as by the presence of single, double or triple bonds. The valency of the atom i (vertex degree), Vj, is replaced by the atom connectivity ... [Pg.26]

Platt introduced18> an index F which is calculated by summation of the number of bonds adjacent to each of the bonds in the molecule. In graph-theoretical terms, the Platt index is the sum of the degrees of all edges in the molecular graph ... [Pg.26]

FHaya et al. 89) introduced an information index e, called electropy, based on the assumption that the molecule forms a finite space which is divided into several partial bond spaces according to the electronic pairings in the molecule. The electropy, e, is viewed as a measure of the degree of freedom of choice for electrons in occupying different partial spaces in during the process of molecular formation. [Pg.49]
