There are two basic test configurations. The first is a blind flange setup where the sample is clamped between a glass tube containing the liquid and a temperature-controlled heater. In this test, two samples can be tested under identical conditions. The second is a retaining cup clamped onto the sample. Figure 9.7 illustrates the two types of test cells. [Pg.184]

Inspection and future condition assessment requires that provision be made for as many blind flanges as possible. Since destmctive testing is the most reliable method, blind flange linings can enable tracking of the performance overtime. Maintenance considerations include repairs and repairability. [Pg.157]

Repairability is determined by welding a small bead on the lining at a location such as a manway cover or a blind flange. Adhesion of the weld bead is determined and any signs of foaming or other reaction between the heat input and the chemicals trapped in the fluoropolymer are noted. Once satisfied, weld repair can be carried out successfully. The repair area is then inspected by spark test. [Pg.314]

The relief valve had been removed in the morning for testing (the second of the above tasks). Two blind flanges were put on the pump casing at the location of the relief valve. The flanges were not bolted down tightly. [Pg.63]

Bubble point testing was performed in an inverted configuration with the liquid on top and gas on the bottom. The flange was mated with a bottom blind flanged section to create a tight seal at the edges and to allow a small gap beneath the screen for pressurant gas to build up. The bottom section was fitted with pressurization and sensing port lines to... [Pg.90]

While preparing for the test, two mechanics blinded a six-inch (15 cm) pressure relief flanged top-mounted nozzle. The craftsman also capped two smaller nozzles on the tank roof with flanges. These smaller nozzles normally were equipped with a pressure gauge and... [Pg.58]
