Blending systems coupling

PP-PA6 Blends Containing Dispersed Core-Shell Microparticles. In the third type of PP-PA6 blend system, the PP-g-MA blend com-patibilizer and rubber was completely substituted by maleic anhydride-grafted rubbers such as EPR-g-MA and SEBS-g-MA. As reported previously (22, 23) and schematically represented in Figure 4, imide-coupling at the PP-PA6 interface, and surface-tension gradient and immiscibility between PP, PA6, and rubber are responsible for the accumulation of the rubber at the PA6 microparticle surface, which results in microparticles with a PA6 core and a rubber shell. Like PP-g-MA blend compatibilizers, maleic anhydride-grafted rub-... [Pg.303]

When all the conditions are optimum, particularly the polyurethane to robber ratio, then the chemistry and nature of the precipitated phase is altered and a degree of blend synergy takes place, which leads to an improvement in the adhesive shear properties, compared with a standard CTBN-tonghened system, coupled with a marked increase in peel strength, particularly under dynamic loading conditions. [Pg.555]

Another observation to be made is that the degree of coupling is usually variable. It varied with p in the pressure-flow process and with x in the blending system. In each case it depended on the extensive controlled variable rather than on the intensive variable (flow). It should be recognized that in some processes the best choice of c-m pairs at one operating condition may not be the best at another. [Pg.193]

In many applications, such as this blending system, complete decou pling is unnecessary. As pointed out in the discussion of dynamic effects, very fast loops are scarcely disturbed by their coupling to slow loops. Therefore that part of the decoupling system designed to liberate flow, pressure, and level loops can ordinarily be omitted. [Pg.201]

From the model of the half-coupled blending system. [Pg.201]

The composition of PPG—PEG blends has been determined using gpc with coupled density and RI detectors. PEG and PPG have different response factors for the density and RI detectors which were exploited (173). An hplc system with CHROMPAC RP-18C2g column at 298°C and acetonitrile—water or methanol—water as the mobile phase has been used to gather information about the functionaUty of PPO (174). [Pg.354]

Many of the new plastics, blends, and material systems require special, enhanced processing features or techniques to be successfully injection molded. The associated materials evolution has resulted in new plastics or grades, many of which are more viscoelastic. That is, they exhibit greater melt elasticity. The advanced molding technology has started to address the coupling of viscoelastic material responses with the process parameters. This requires an understanding of plastics as viscoelastic fluids, rather than as purely viscous liquids, as is commonly held... [Pg.466]

Despite the fact that a full assignment of all the observed absorptions to the respective macromolecule s natural frequencies is not possible in all cases - in particular for complex co- and terpolymers, stereoregular polymers, crosslinked systems, composites, compounds or blends this is very difficult - there are many bands caused by local group vibrations of a few atoms which can be interpreted very nicely. As an example, the C=0 band (stretching vibration) is usually observed as an intense absorption between v = 1850-1650 cm. Because of the coupling with other vibrations of the molecule its frequency is characteristic for the constitution and the neighborhood of the observed atom group. [Pg.82]

Modern systems use BiB packaging for syrups. A double bag is used the inner bag is blended polymers (for example LDPE and EVA) and the outer protective bag is a laminate with an inner layer of metallised polyester sandwiched between LDPE. The bags are sealed with a coupling valve designed to connect only to the drink manufacturer s dispensing equipment and after filling are dropped into cardboard outer boxes. [Pg.366]

As already mentioned, the sequential coupling of functionally terminated chains of different chemical structure can be used to make block copolymers,59,354,355 including those in which one or more of the blocks is a polysiloxane.74,115,356 If the blocks are relatively long, separation into a two-phase system almost invariably occurs. Frequently, one type of block will be in a continuous phase and the other will be dispersed in it in domains having an average size the order of a few hundred angstroms. Such materials can have unique mechanical properties not available from either species when present simply in homopolymeric form. Sometimes similar properties can be obtained by the simple blending of two or more polymers.357... [Pg.183]
