The net effect of these events is the development of bleeding diathesis. 

Adverse effects, which include gastritis, peptic ulcer, hypertension, kidney failure, delirium, bleeding diathesis and oedema of the lower extremities, are not uncommon. Most cases of knee arthritis can improve with the right kind of exercise of the thigh muscles, better personally adjusted walking aids and shoe implants can also be of help. 

Special risk Use with care in patients with a bleeding diathesis, uncontrolled arterial hypertension, or a history of recent Gl ulceration or bleeding, diabetic retinopathy, hemorrhage, and severe liver or kidney insufficiency. 

Epidural/Intrathecal- Presence of infection at the injection microinfusion site concomitant anticoagulant therapy uncontrolled bleeding diathesis parenterally administered corticosteroids within a 2-week period, other concomitant drug therapy or medical condition that would contraindicate the technique of epidural or intrathecal analgesia acute bronchial asthma upper airway obstruction. 

Contraindications Active internal bleeding, AV malformation or aneurysm, bleeding diathesis, intracranial neoplasm, intracranial orintraspinal surgery or trauma, recent (within past 2 mo) cerebrovascular accident, severe uncontrolled hypertension... 

Contraindications Epidural contraindicated in those patients with bleeding diathesis or infection at the injection site, those receiving anticoagulation therapy... 

Contraindications Active internal bleeding or a history of bleeding diathesis within previous 30 days, arteriovenous malformation or aneurysm, history of intracranial hemorrhage, history of thrombocytopenia after prior exposure to tirofiban, intracranial neoplasm, major surgical procedure within previous 30 days, severe hypertension, stroke...

The ultimate dependence of vitamin E for transport by liver and intestinal cells via apoB lipoproteins may explain the severe vitamin E deficiency observed in ABL. In contrast, apoB lipoprotein assembly is required only for the mobilization of dietary vitamin A by the intestinal cells liver distributes the endogenous vitamin A to other tissues by retinol-binding protein. Unlike vitamins E and A, dietary vitamin K may only partially depend on apoB lipoproteins for its transport across the intestinal epithelial cells and tissue targeting and may explain why bleeding diathesis is rarely observed in ABL.

Vitamin K lependent clotting factor, including factor Vll, is affected early. The net effect of these events is the development of bleeding diathesis.
