Practical applications of the influence coefficient method to multiplane, multispeed balancing are presented by Badgley and the author. The separate problem of choosing balancing planes is discussed at some length by Den Hartog, Kellenberger, and Miwa for the (N + 2)-plane method, and by Bishop and Parkinson in the V-plane method. [Pg.590]

Berkeley, George. Siris a chain of philosophical reflexions and inquiries concerning the virtues of tar water, and divers other subjects connected together and arising one from another. / By the Right Rev. Dr. George Berkeley, Lord Bishop of Cloyne, and author of The minute philosopher [1 line of biblical quotation and 1 line of Horace in Latin], The second edition, / improved and corrected by the author ed. [London] Dublin printed, London re- printed, for W. Innys, and C. Hitch,... and C. Davis..., 1754. [3], 4-174, [2] p. [Pg.32]

The range of the gzz values is shown clearly by a comparison of the results for the NaY and NaX zeolites. Since the migration of Na+ ions is related to the presence of water (76), it is likely that the type of precursor (Na4)4+ -(H20)x complex formed after a proper degree of dehydration (278) will be strongly dependent on the pretreatment conditions. This will be reflected in the gzz values of the OJ produced during y irradiation by electron transfer from the precursor (278). It is also likely that the OJ can migrate after its formation as shown by Kasai and Bishop (264). These authors (272) have detected a superhyperfine interaction from Na nuclei (I = ) in the EPR spectrum of OJ formed in Na-reduced NaY zeolite and characterized by gzz = 2.113. This value is very close to those observed for alkalisuperoxides trapped in krypton matrices (Ref. 44, Appendix A). [Pg.71]

Malay and English in radio broadcasts was forbidden from 1974. Islam was declared the state religion in 1973, in defiance of one of the major points of the original Malaysia agreement, and state authority was used in a variety of ways to encourage Sabahans to become Muslim. In 1970-2 the majority of foreign priests and missionary workers were expelled (forty-one in 1970 alone), and the first Malaysian Catholic Bishop of Kota Kinabalu, a Sarawak Chinese, was refused a residence permit (Rooney 1981 213-19 Loh 1992 228-31 Luping 1994 199-274). [Pg.198]

The authors are grateful for the support of this work through a research grant from the National Center for Air Pollution Control, U.S. Public Health Service, Bethesda, Md., to William Bishop and Richard Firestone for the use of the time-of-flight instrument for product identification, and to S. W. Benson, Christopher S. Foote, and E. A. Ogryzlo for their helpful discussions with us concerning this work. [Pg.71]

Only for basis set ZZZ, a a shielding polarizabilities are very close to the cr 7 values for both nuclei. The paramagnetic apIofly contributions, are approximately of the same quality for basis set JJand UJ. Our results are compared with those of Bishop and Cybulski (7,9), and with those of Coriani et al (18), both for the SCF level, and the agreement is very good, even if, those authors have used larger basis sets. [Pg.87]

I would like to take this opportunity to extend my thanks to all the speakers at the symposium and to all the authors who contributed articles to this volume. I would also wish to express my gratitude to the management of Matthey Bishop, Inc., who kindly permitted me to utilize their time and facilities to arrange this symposium. My special thanks to G. Cohn of Engelhard Industries and L. B. Hunt of Johnson Matthey Co. for their cooperation and help rendered to find suitable speakers. [Pg.170]

The author is grateful to his collaborators, in particular P. Piekarz, J.-H. Chung, H. Mook, M. Tachiki and M. Arai, for their contributions. He is thankfid to K. A. Muller, L. P. Gor kov, A. R. Bishop, J. C. Phillips, A. Bussmann-Holder, A. Lanzara, A. Bianconi, D. Mihailovic, P. Bourge, J. C. Davis and R. Resta for valuable discussions. This work was supported by the National Science Foundation through DMR01-02565. [Pg.128]

On the subject of stars and linear chains, the same authors have employed MC calculations based on Bishop and Clarke s pivot algorithm to study the validity of scaling and group renormalization theories of these interesting molecules. Dimensions and intrinsic viscosities were also calculated. - ... [Pg.183]

The authors thank the Monsanto Chemical Co. for permission to publish this article and R. P. Bishop and R. W. Jones for contributions to it. [Pg.245]

When ethylene diacrylate is used as a cross-linking agent several authors (Bishop et al. 1967 Peacock and Dingman 1967) advocate the use of up to 3 times higher ratio of cross-linker to acrylamide than normally used in the case of N,N -methylenebisacrylamide for comparable separations. [Pg.368]

The author thanks Mrs. Gillian Bishop-Freudling for polishing the paper with regard to language problems. [Pg.117]

Serotonin has been demonstrated in certain mossy fibers with high resolution autoradiography after topical or ventricular infusion of pHJserotonin in rodents (Chan-Palay, 1975 Beaudet and Sotelo, 1981). Authors using immunocytochemical methods for serotonin in rat, opossum and cat, however, concluded that varicose serotoninergic fibers distribute throughout the cerebellar cortex, but that few if any terminate as mossy fibers (Bishop and Ho, 1985 Bishop et al., 1985 Takeuchi et al., 1982). [Pg.303]

RDX was detected at a concentration of 0.052 mg/m (0.47 ppm) in the particulate fraction of one indoor air sample taken from the incorporation area of Holston Army Ammunition Plants in Tennessee in 1986 (Bishop et al. 1988). Based on the observed concentration, the authors considered the potential for exposure to RDX to be very low. [Pg.72]
