Birth length

The initial physical exam revealed a birth weight of 2775 g, a birth length of 48 cm, and a head circumference of 33 cm, which are within normal limits for a near-term male child. [Pg.234]

These exposures may sometimes have long-term effects, not least on children. For instance, reduced birth weights or birth lengths have been associated with environmental levels of bisphenol A (NTP-CERHR 2008), PFOA (Fei et al. 2008), phthalates (Latini et al. 2003) and others (IFCS 2003a), and effects on the central nervous system that may lead to effects on intelligence or behaviour (IFCS 2003a) have been associated with environmental levels of lead, mercury and PCBs. [Pg.184]

The final model for birth weight accounted for 24% of the observed variance in birth length. Maternal PbB interacted with race to produce a significant (p < 0.025) depression in birth length. This effect was contained entirely within the white infants. The birth length of white infants decreased approximately 2.5 cm per natural log unit increment in maternal PbB. This interaction is shown in Figure 4. [Pg.311]

In another publication Burke, et al. (152) correlated the protein intake of the mother to the infant s measurements at birth. A significant relationship was found to exist between the protein content of the mother s diet and the birth length of the infant. A similar correlation existed between the mother s protein intake and the birth weights. These authors believe that less than 75 g. of protein daily during the latter part of pregnancy result... [Pg.93]
