The exact number of working biotechnologists is hard to determine, since the job description doesn t neatly fit into a conventional slot. The U.S. Department of Labor indicates that there are over 75,000 Master s and Ph.D.-level biologists in the U.S. and Bio.org, the Website for the Biotechnologies Industry Organization, reports nearly 200,000 biotechnologists are currently employed.
