Bid lists

Having agreed to bid, if a hrm does not submit a bid without good reason consideration should be given to removing it from the bid list for a short period, because when a hrm does not bid, it reduces the competitive element, possibly increasing the cost of the job. It also denies another hrm the opportunity of biding. 

The number of bidders invited to bid should be determined by the size of the works. Good contractors should be encouraged to bid and not be disillusioned by too many bidders. For most contracts, a bid list of six hrms should be sufficient to keep the biding competitive and allow for the odd hrm that does not return its bid. 

In both markets, dealers will bid for most securities in most cases. In the United States this is often done through bid lists. Big institutional investors send a selected group of dealers lists of securities on which the dealers are invited to bid. The timeframe for this bid wanted in comp (i.e., competition) approach is short—usually a few hours. Each dealer is then notified of the securities for which they are the highest bidder. For less liquid bonds, it is also common for dealers to work an order. Under this approach, an investor leaves an order with a dealer to buy or sell a set amount of securities within a spread range. The dealer then has a limited amount of time (usually one or two days) to source the bonds. In working an order, a dealer is functioning more like a broker. 

In this phase of the toller selection process, we assume the long list became a short list and now one or more candidate tollers from the short list will be given an opportunity to prepare a commercial bid. This by no means indicates the short listed tollers are perfect. There may be deficiencies that need to be corrected in concert with the client. With proper effort, one will be successful and be engaged for the toll. Sometimes it is appropriate to decide on a backup toller, as complications can develop that prevent the primary candidate from executing the project as originally planned, due to an incident in their plant, departure of key personnel, or unexpected production demands on the toller. 

The previous API standards are guidelines to information regarding maehine train applieations. The more pertinent the information obtained during the evaluation of the proposal, the better the seleetion for the problem. The following list eontains items the user should eonsider in his attempt to properly evaluate the bid. Some of these points are eovered in the API standards. 

The vendor order can be established on a bid-factor basis. To this list can be added pluses or minuses based on experience with the vendor, In some companies, a spare parts package cost is obtained with the bids... 

The result of subcontractor qualification is a list of capable subcontractors that will be invited to bid for specific work. 

The following listing of data to be supplied to manufacturers when ordering motors or requesting bids is based on the requirements and recommendations of a number of representative manufacturers. This list is split into vital and desirable information and is intended as a checklist in preparing both requisitions and purchase orders. By using this list, you will give the manufacturer a clear picture of your needs for most motor applications in the oil and petrochemical industries and eliminate call-backs, requests for supplementary information, and so on. 

Bid make-up - Invitation to the bidders to clarify points prior to bid. Alternative makes of equipment may be offered instead of the ones specified, but the bidder must bid for what was specified, and include the alternatives as a separate list.

Since generalists have low specificity, their bids for a given classifier strength will be lower than bids from specialists and they may fail in their bids unless they are of very general utility, so often receive a reward and, thus, have high strength. Notice that the generalist /action has a specificity of zero, so if this classifier is a member of the classifier list, any bid it makes cannot succeed. 

The list has been constructed on the premise that contractors will use methods of analysis that are appropriate and accredited by a third party (normally UKAS), participate in and achieve satisfactory results in proficiency testing schemes and use formal internal quality control procedures. In addition, Parts B and C are made available to the potential contractors so that they are aware of what other demands will be made of them and can build the costs of providing the information into their bids. 

Once the quotes are received, compile a short list" of the more attractive bids. Evaluate the alternate quotes by comparing to experimental data, correlation predictions, or sound design criteria.
