The most commonly used neutron reaction is the (n,y) reaction, which takes place with almost all isotopes (although with different probability) and has no threshold. In general, the (n, y) cross section is higher for thermal than for fast neutrons. Other neutron interactions are (n, a), in, p), and (n,2n) reactions except for a few exothermic in, a) reactions, the others have a threshold therefore, they Ccm occur with fast neutrons only. Table 15.1 lists neutron reactions for the identification of several elements. Details for many more elements and reactions can be found in the bibliography of this chapter. [Pg.525]

The coverage in this chapter has necessarily been selective and restricted in scope. The interested reader will find more thorough discussions of topics considered here (and others not considered here) in the general references cited for this section. In addition, major data sources and bibliographies are available a partial list is given by Van Ness and Abbott. ... [Pg.54]

New chemistry of metal carbonyls and their derivatives is summarized below. However, as in previous Reports many carbonylmetal complexes are reviewed in other chapters. Herein we highlight significant results of general interest. A Bibliography at the end of the chapter lists papers which were noted during our survey of the literature. In this introductory section the reader s attention is drawn to some novel discoveries related to new carbonylmetal chemistry. [Pg.182]
