Benzene method

The purity of benzene marketed for most laboratory purposes is usually greater than 95.5% with the principal impurities being toluene and other hydrocarbons with boiling points similar to that of benzene. Methods used to assess the quality of benzene include determination of density, boiling point, distillation characteristics, and specific gravity. Benzene of high purity samples is conveniendy measured by freezing point, as outlined in ASTM ID 1016. [Pg.46]

The /4-cyclohexadiene complex [Ru(//4-C6H8)(PF3)3], which is readily obtained by displacement of benzene (method E) from [Ru(//4-C6H8)(//6-C6H6)], is a fiuxional molecule (1). The 31P H) NMR spectrum at room temperature (Fig. 17) exhibits a basic 1-3-3-1 quartet pattern (coupling to F) and shows the further complicated fine structure expected for an [AX3]3 spin system (X = F, A = P) indicative of... [Pg.81]

The entire run-time of one analysis cycle on the 20 m column was 16 min as shown of the 200 pg/L BTEX standard in Figure 4.8. The analyzed surface water sample shown in Figure 4.9 contained 0.62 ppm benzene. Method detection limits (MDLs) were generated by running replicate samples at 0.1 pg/L BTEX concentration (see Tables 4.2 and 4.3). [Pg.504]
