Belt guards

Cause of failure Back of the belt rubbing on a belt guard or other component (Figure 58.14). [Pg.979]

Circospettoshowed his teeth in a death s-head smile. Show me. He nodded to thefante with the fanciest silver badge on his belt. Guard the door and try not to steal anything. ... [Pg.11]

Where safeguards by manufacturer design are not feasible, protective safety devices should be employed (belt guards, railings, etc.). [Pg.131]

Stop/start - the machine shown is switched on by a shrouded pushbutton starter with a cover plate which can be padlocked to prevent unauthorised access. A mushroom-headed stop button is situated on the starter, and the machine can also be sivitched off using the emergency kick-stop switch at the front of the base. A safety switch is also incorporated under the belt guard and automatically stops... [Pg.122]

Accessories offered suction and discharge silencers, filters, bed plate, antivibration pads, pulleys/couplings, belts, belt guard, etc. Manufacturer should specify type of coupling, e.g. direct, flexible, fluid, etc. [Pg.46]

Guards for horizontal overhead rope and chain drives. Overhead-rope and chain-drive guard construction shall conform to the rules for overhead-belt guard. [Pg.434]

The main centrifuge drive is usually an electrical motor mounted on slide rails on the frame or sub-frame and connected to the centrifuge drive pulley with V-belts. A purpose built belt guard will cover the two pulleys and belts. Motors on the larger decanters can consume a few hundred kilowatts of power. Such large motors are more often directly mounted on the floor, in which case a special belt-tensioning device is incorporated to allow for the differential movement of the rotating assembly. [Pg.43]

Given the inertia at the motor shaft, the equations in this section are used to determine whether the torque of the chosen motor is sufficient to accelerate the decanter bowl smoothly to speed, without slippage of the belts. The thermal limits and the torque limit of the number of drive belts used and their cross-sections have to be checked, with the pre-set diameter of the smallest pulley taken into account. Causing the belts to slip will end in their failure, while producing copious amounts of dust in the belt guard, which could be an explosion hazard. [Pg.199]

Protective equipment. Cover use of fume hoods, bench shields, biological safety cabinets, glove boxes, motor belt guards, respirators or gas masks, and training necessary for their proper use. [Pg.287]

Safety aspects such as belt guards, protection of glass ionization gauges, etc. not adequately addressed. [Pg.137]

Figure 6-3 illustrates a small pulley belt guarded with wire mesh. [Pg.83]
