Bacterial Methods of Hyaluronic Acid Production

Modem HA production is done by microbiological methods extensive amount of the scientific and patent hterature about the production of hyaluronic acid by microbiological method has been accumulated and is available for reference [30], [Pg.84]

A limited amount of gram-positive bacteria (Streptococcus sp. and Pasteurella sp.) are able to synthesize a polysaccharide from the upper capsule (1 mm thick) they create [31,32]. The majority of such microorganisms are pathogenic to humans and animals, but they are also able to parasite in the intercellular space of the mammal s tissue. That is why there is high demand for these microorganisms  [Pg.84]

They should not be pathogenic to humans and show no haemolytic activity. [Pg.84]

They should be able to synthesize high molecular weight HA at high speed. [Pg.84]

They should not show any hyaluronidase activity so as not to hydrolyse the high-molecular product. [Pg.84]
