Automotive Parts Manufacturers Association

The Automotive Parts Rebuilders Association, of Chicago, collects data on the production, consumption, sales, prices, new products, new equipment, processes, and labor involved in automotive parts manufacture. 

Manufacturers have begun using UV adhesives because of the very large differences in the cost of energy used for cure and the increase in productivity associated with faster cure cycles. Specially designed UV-aerobic acrylics cure rapidly, adhere to borosilicate glass, and withstand the severe environmental and vibration resistance required of automotive parts. 

The automotive industry uses significant volumes of recycled plastics in the manufacture of automotive parts. The Vehicle Recycling Partnership (VRP), part of United States Center for Automotive Research (USCAR) [113], is a precompetitive coalition of US automakers and was established to conduct collaborative research to develop the technical and economic feasibility of vehicle recycling in North America. The Automotive Recyclers Association (ARA) represents the recyclers that serve the automotive industry [114]. The automotive industry has, in the past, specified minimum recycle content requirements to their suppliers. Although biobased plastics appear to be the current media focus, recycled plastics are used to help control costs and maximize profits. 

Along with his work in the structural steel business, he became a director in a number of companies in France, one of which manufactured automobile parts, and through the latter he became associated with technical people in France who were interested in automotive engineering.
