The clean car initiative diverted attention from one of the most important developments in automotive history. In the last few decades the... [Pg.168]

The use of PC—ABS blends has grown significantly in the early 1990s. These blends exhibit excellent properties, particularly low temperature ductihty, reduced notch sensitivity, and ease of melt fabrication. The blend morphology (229), ABS composition, thermal history (215), PC content and molecular weight (300), processing conditions, etc, all affect the mechanical behavior of PC—ABS blends. These blends have been most frequently used in automotive and other engineering appHcations. [Pg.421]

An essential ingredient in the innovation history in the area of chemicals is, however, doubtless the development of recipes for preparations and their specific adaptation to the requirements of fast-moving manufacturing processes, for example in the automotive, electronics, printing and paper industries. This occurs mainly on the basis of the existing inventory of primary materials. [Pg.37]

H. Heinemann History of Industrial Catalysis The first chapter reviews industrial catalytic developments, which have been commercialized during the last fourty years. Emphasis is put on heterogeneous catalytic processes, largely in the petroleum, petrochemical and automotive industries, where the largest scale applications have occurred. Homogeneous catalytic processes are briefly treated and polymerization catalysis is mentioned. The author concentrates on major inventions and novel process chemistry and engineering (79 references). [Pg.215]

Glidden has had a long history in the TS and IF business. They had an early involvement in anodic ED (together with Ford Motor Co.) for automotive applications. They are also active in WB, PC, HS, and RC coatings. [Pg.879]

The history of the introduction of thermoplastic acrylics into automotive finishes serves to illustrate the general growth of acrylic technology during the 1950s (16) and the ability of these polymers to be modified to fill sophisticated requirements. [Pg.1041]

Clean Air Act is another story for another occasion. Several recent well-written and well-referenced reviews of the technical aspects of automotive catalysis are available (16, 48, 52), and are recommended to those who are interested in more detailed technical considerations of this chapter in the history of catalysis. [Pg.430]
