Auditors Road Safety Assessments

Hampshire County Council is one authority that has adopted the Standard with some variations. For example, the County Council regularly carries out Feasibility Stage Road Safety Audits on large schemes for small schemes the site visit may be carried out by one auditor at Stage 3 the audit team assesses the need to carry out a night-time visit. [Pg.14]

In the case of brand new ideas being put forward, the Road Safety Auditors may be tempted to be critical to avoid any future allegations should an accident occur. The auditors may resort to auditing to the Standards rather than trying to assess the real risks. [Pg.153]

Engineers, road designers, road safety auditors and inspectors should be trained to consider PTWs in the design, maintenance and operation of roads, and be provided with the necessary risk assessment tools to make the right decisions. Local authorities staff should be trained and informed on the infrastracture requirements for PTWs to compensate for the safety problems to which they are specifically subject. [Pg.112]

More recently, Gloucestershire County Council has introduced procedures that require Road Safety Auditors to undertake risk assessments on the safety problems identified. [Pg.9]
