Whatever the form of publication, the only tools available to persuade people to make these behavioral changes are the well-created document, audiovisual presentation, press release and so on. Often, the actual dissemination of these materials takes place at a time or place remote from the writer s supervision. Publications must be well made for stand-alone use. 

With captured audiences the possible methods can expand. Standard audiovisual presentations may work weU. The methods may include stand-up lectures, role playing, case studies, problem solving, special training facilities, computer-assisted instmction, and other techniques. The method depends on whether one is trying to convey general knowledge or develop skills to a desired level of performance. Cost of development and delivery also affect the training method. 

Over 550 participants from all over the world attended, along with 70 Associates and 25 University of Calgary graduate students who assisted in audiovisual presentations when not attending the scientific sessions. 

The professionalism of any presenter is thrown into question when they appear to have little enthusiasm for the subject or empathy for the audience and cannot communicate clearly, either verbally or by means of audiovisual aids. 

It is especially important to find out whether the room has the necessary equipment for slide projection (slide projector and screen, black-out curtains or blinds, appropriate lighting) or overhead projection before you prepare your audiovisual aids. If you concentrate only on the spoken part of your presentation at this stage, you are inviting trouble later on. Have a look around the room and try out the equipment at the earliest opportunity, so that you are able to use the hghts, projector, etc., with confidence. 

All computer-based promotional material must comply with all relevant provisions of this code in the same way as printed materials (see Chapter 6). PI must be readily accessible via the computer-based material or offered to an audience in a group situation on completion of the presentation. Where an audiovisual item is demonstrated, the Product Information document must be given to the individual reviewing the promotional material, or offered to the audience in a group situation on completion of the presentation. The INN should appear adjacent to the most prominent presentation of the trade name. 

An employer may use whatever training format or method is effective for the particular worksite provided it addresses the required topics. As such, audiovisual and slide presentations, classroom discussion, informal discussions during safety meetings, etc., or a combination of these methods may be used. 

Visual (and audiovisual) aids are the most commonly used tools for helping to create clear mental pictures they cause people to pay attention to the message, help them to understand the message, and improve their capacity to remember the message.
