Attempt rate

As has been described in Ref. 70, this approach can reasonably account for membrane electroporation, reversible and irreversible. On the other hand, a theory of the processes leading to formation of the initial (hydrophobic) pores has not yet been developed. Existing approaches to the description of the probability of pore formation, in addition to the barrier parameters F, y, and some others (accounting, e.g., for the possible dependence of r on r), also involve parameters such as the diffusion constant in r-space, Dp, or the attempt rate density, Vq. These parameters are hard to establish from first principles. For instance, the rate of critical pore appearance, v, is described in Ref. 75 through an Arrhenius equation ...

Data for step-mobilities shown in Fig. 6 span an impressively large range a factor of 10 " separates step-mobilities measured by STM from the step-mobilities extracted from the relaxation of micron-sized gratings. Some discrepancies exist, but most of the step-mobilities are consistent with a single activation energy of 1.8 eV and an attempt rate given by the frequency of atomic vibrations. We hope that this initial comparison of step-mobility data will help motivate more detailed theoretical analysis and experiments on the coimections between step-mobility and the evolution of surface morphology. 

Despite the handicap that the studies were largely developed and conducted with the aim of proving the value of industry products, a metaanalysis of the combined data indicated that antidepressants in children and youth increase the suicide attempt rate and that an estimated 1% to 3% of patients would be at risk of antidepressant-induced suicidality (Hammad et al., 2006). On October 15, 2004, the FDA mandated a black-box warning, and in early 2005, it was finalized (FDA, 2005a). According to FDA requirements for describing adverse drug reactions, a risk of 1% or more is considered common. 

An open bond in the localized B state can subsequently close. Also, the closure rate will take place with a rate given by the product of the attempt rate and an Arrhenius factor, this time encompassing the difference in energy between the transition state and the open state, i.e., exp[( —(AVat — AVAb)/ "], where AVab is the difference in energy between an open and closed bond. 

The bond opening energy of the LL bonds for type 1 pih is in reasonable, although not perfect, agreement with those assessed for type 1 pili by AFM, 26 kT (recalculated from 17 kT with an attempt rate of 10 to an attempt rate of 10 Hz which has been used throughout this work) by Miller et al. [50] and 29 kT reported by Forero et al. [51]. 

Psychiatric In a pharmacoepidemiological study, suicide attempt rates were compared before and after gabapentin prescription in 131178 patients, to determine whether there was an increased risk of suicide during the first year [167 ]. There was no significant difference in suicide attempt rates before treatment (3.48/1000 patient-years) and after treatment (3.45/1000 patient-years). Person-time analysis showed an overall significant reduction in suicide attempt rates (2.01/1000 patient-years versus 2.30/1000 patient-years off drug).
