Atomic force microscope hybrid

In one such approach we seek to exploit the potential signal transduction properties of the thermochromic Dawson [40] polyoxometalates and combine this with a fluorescent POM-hybrid to produce a device that could respond optically as a function of the local environment, see Figure 2.12. In this example, the clusters would be positioned on a gold surface using SAMs (Self-assembled monolayer) with a cationic tail and local positional control could be aimed using self-assembly, or even by means of an atomic force microscope tip. [Pg.43]

LB films of five new hybrid dimethyidioctadecylammonium/heteropolyanions DODA/HPA (HPA=[PZ(H20)M0 03,], Z=Co, Cu, Mn, Zn, Ni) were prepared and characterized by it-A isotherms, UV-Vis absorption spectra, IR spectra, small-angle X-ray diffraction (SAXD), and atomic force microscope (AFM). The results show that these compounds have good film-forming property on the air-water interface. The collapse pressure of LB films is 28.7-37.5mN/m. The area per molecule is 28.18-49.07 nm mol". The LB films have lamellar structures in which the monolayers of the heteropolyanions alternate with bilayers of DODA to form centrally symmetrical LB films. [Pg.415]

Figure 29b shows the scheme of a conducting atomic force microscope (c-AFM) experiment using a single hybrid P3HT/PCBM NP. An indium tin oxide (ITO) electrode was used as the cathode because of its relatively low work function (4.8 eV) compared with that (5.1 eV) of the Pt metal used as the anode. Figure 29c... [Pg.238]

Infrared spectra of hybrid thin films were measured by using a Jasco Model FTIR 410 spectrophotometer. An atomic force microscope (Digital Instrument, Inc., Model DI 5000 AFM) was used to probe the surface morphology of the... [Pg.310]

As covered in Section 5.3.2.4.5, sample rotation (also referred to as Zalar rotation) during image depth profiling can minimize the latter. Alternatively, surface topography measurements carried out before and after image depth profiling can account for the latter two. Indeed, the effectiveness of this approach has been demonstrated via ex-situ Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) measurements (van der Heide 1998 Robinson et al. 2012). Based off of the success of this approach, lon-Tof has designed a hybrid APM/TOF-SIMS instrument. [Pg.205]

The use is demonstrated of microscopic analysis techniques for the investigation of adhesive failure. PVC sheet was bonded to glass using a M35R hybrid UV curable adhesive based on epoxy resin. Atomic force microscopy and X-ray induction photoelectron spectroscopy were used for the chemical characterisation of of failure surfaces. 11 refs. [Pg.79]

Morphological study for hybrid/composite manbranes is a very important method to investigate the microstructure and thus correlate with the properties of the composite polyelectrolytes. To better understand the structure-property relationship for PEMs, except for spectral analysis as mentioned earlier, microscopic studies such as field mission (FE) scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and atomic force microscopy (AEM) technologies are basically extensively utilized. [Pg.385]
