Aryl derivatives carbon monoxide reactions

They have also developed a route to 2-allenylindole derivatives (98T13929). When prop-2-ynyl carbonates (76) are reacted with 73 in the presence of palladium catalyst, a cross-coupling reaction occurs to give 77a (46%) and 77b (45%). Under a pressurized carbon monoxide atmosphere (10 atm), the palladium-catalyzed reaction of 73 with 78 provides 79a (60%) and 79b (60%) (2000H2201). In a similar reaction, when the substrate is changed to aryl halides (80), 2-aryl-1-methoxyindoles such as 81a (70%) and 81b (60%) are prepared (97H2309). [Pg.115]

Aryl- and alkenylcarbene complexes are known to react with alkynes through a [3C+2S+1C0] cycloaddition reaction to produce benzannulated compounds. This reaction, known as the Dotz reaction , is widely reviewed in Chap. Chromium-Templated Benzannulation Reactions , p. 123 of this book. However, simple alkyl-substituted carbene complexes react with excess of an alkyne (or with diynes) to produce a different benzannulated product which incorporates in its structure two molecules of the alkyne, a carbon monoxide ligand and the carbene carbon [128]. As referred to before, this [2S+2SH-1C+1C0] cycloaddition reaction can be carried out with diyne derivatives, showing these reactions give better yields than the corresponding intermolecular version (Scheme 80). [Pg.112]

Grigg et al. [61] have recently reported a one-pot reaction involving the initial three-component condensation with a 2-halo-benzylamine 112, ethyl glyoxylate 113 and an aryl boronic acid 114, followed by Pd cyclization in the presence of carbon monoxide to give 116, or in the presence of allene to form dihydroisoquinoline amino acid derivatives 117 (Scheme 7.15). [Pg.210]

Many reactions afford, in addition to the naphthalene derivatives, mixtures of products. One of the major side reactions is the formation of indene derivatives directly from the metathesis intermediate without insertion of carbon monoxide. Other products frequently isolated as minor components are furans, cyclobutanones, and cyclopentenediones. The product distribution is dependent on numerous factors, including solvent, reaction temperature, concentration of the alkyne, and the nature of the aryl substituent. Molybdenum carbenes give, depending on the alkyne, either naphthols or indenes exclusively. The molybdenum Fischer carbenes can be tuned to give naphthoquinones by replacing one of the carbon monoxide ligands with a phosphine (Scheme 45). [Pg.3226]

A relatively small number of carbon monoxide insertion reactions are known for alkyl or aryl derivatives of nickel. The oxidative addition of benzoyl chloride to Ni(PPh3)4 at 0°C was reported to give the corresponding phenyl derivative of nickel(Il) [reaction (c)], thus implying that the reverse of the carbonyl insertion from an unstable... [Pg.607]
