In a sense, Flow NMR is like HPLC-NMR without the chromatography part. It has found use in the field of array chemistry where libraries of compounds, usually with a common motif, are made - or at least presented - in the wells of a plate. ... [Pg.144]

Mass spectrometry (MS) is faster than NMR and has much better sensitivity the result (e.g. a molecular weight) can also be easier to interpret automatically -so MS may be the method of choice for structure confirmation, particularly in surveying large numbers of samples such as those that result from combinatorial or array chemistry. However, MS rarely gives sufficient information to elucidate fully the stmctures of unknowns and NMR is required, especially to settle questions of regiochemistry. [Pg.106]

The use of solution phase techniques has been explored as an alternative to solid-phase chemistry approaches for the preparation of arrays of compounds in the drug discovery process. Solution-phase work is free from some of the constraints of solid-phase approaches but has disadvantages with respect to purification. This article will also illustrate some of the advances made in recent years in solution phase array chemistry including using supported reagents and simple extractive protocols for the effective preparation of high quality samples. [Pg.1]

The periodic table is the most important chemistry reference there is. It arranges all the known elements in an informative array. Elements are arranged left to right and top to bottom in order of increasing atomic number.. This order generally coincides with increasing atomic mass... [Pg.219]

Measurements are made using appropriate equipment or instruments. The array of equipment and instrumentation used in analytical chemistry is impressive, ranging from the simple and inexpensive, to the complex and costly. With two exceptions, we will postpone the discussion of equipment and instrumentation to those chapters where they are used. The instrumentation used to measure mass and much of the equipment used to measure volume are important to all analytical techniques and are therefore discussed in this section. [Pg.25]

The quiaones have excellent redox properties and are thus important oxidants ia laboratory and biological synthons. The presence of an extensive array of conjugated systems, especially the a,P-unsaturated ketone arrangement, allows the quiaones to participate ia a variety of reactioas. Characteristics of quiaoae reactioas iaclude nucleophilic substitutioa electrophilic, radical, and cycloaddition reactions photochemistry and normal and unusual carbonyl chemistry. [Pg.405]

The wide array of choices available to research chemists necessitates a diligent search for hazards to select the inherently safest chemistry. One of the means to search for hazards is to conduct a literature search, looking in particular for reports of incidents occurring in processes using the same or similar process chemistry being considered. [Pg.58]

The power of the periodic table is evident in the chemistry we have viewed. By arranging the elements in the array shown on the inside of the front cover, we simplify the problem of understanding the variety of chemistry found in na-... [Pg.103]

The first total synthesis of erythronolide B (1) by Corey stands as an event of great historical significance in synthetic chemistry it provides a powerful illustration of the utility of Corey s methods of macrolactonization and it demonstrates, in a particularly insightful way, the value of using readily accessible six-membered ring templates for the assembly of contiguous arrays of stereo-genic centers. [Pg.169]

Combinatorial chemistry constitutes a branch of the molecular sciences, providing an array of concepts and methods to solve molecular optimization problems (in drug research and beyond) more rapidly and efficiently than classical synthetic approaches. [Pg.381]
