Arms control future

Although flaws in these studies of hydroxyurea left their results open to question, the GOG was convinced that the weight of the evidence supported inclusion of hydroxyurea in the control arms of future trials. In the early 1980s, 308 patients with stages IIB-IVA cervical cancer were randomly assigned to receive radiation therapy with concurrent hydroxyurea or radiation therapy with concurrent misonidazole. Instead of a more peaceful and secure society, gun control would bring about a society that was less secure (because criminals would remain armed) and in which people would be less able to deter encroachments on their democratic rights.

As for arm prosthetics, the future of what can be achieved depends to a large extent on the interactions of physicians, surgeons, sosthetists, and engineers. If meaningful multifunctional control of prostheses is to be achieved then physicians and surgeons need to perform innovative procedures that can be coupled with the novel components and controllers that engineers and prosthetists create.
