The other less important compounds of antimony and selenium are SboS.3Se., sulphoselenide of antimony 2Se0jjSb.203 i20, the basic selenite of antimony and 4Se0.jSb20j, the acid selenite of antimony ( Nelson). 

Paul and coworkers (1989) have investigated the antidotal actions of several compounds on the acute toxicity of selenium in rats. Male Wistar rats were injected sodium [ Sejselenite subcutaneously in this study. Intraperitoneal administration of diethyldithiocarbamate or treatment with citrate salt of bismuth, antimony, or germanium, administered subcutaneously, reduced selenium-induced loss of body weight in the animals. Germanium citrate and bis(carboxyethyl)germanium sesquiox-ide promoted increases in the 24-hour urinary excretion of selenium when administered 15 minutes after sodium selenite. 

Zinc has been quantitatively coprecipitated with Fe(OH)3 from solution 23-28), from river water (26, 27), and from 200 liters of seawater (28). Suzuki and Ozaki (25) used Fe(II) and Fe(III) to produce a precipitate whose filtration was facilitated by a magnetic field. Many other metals have been coprecipitated with iron(III) hydroxide, including the following lead(II) (25, 27) mercury(II) (25, 26, 29) chromium (25, 30) cadmium (25, 26) manganese(II) and or-ganomanganese (28) thallium (57) silver (52) selenium as selenite (25, 55) arsenic(III) and (V) (25, 34-39) antimony(III) (37-39) zinc(II) and or-ganozinc (28). Thionyl chloride, as well as other inorganic acid chlorides, reacts with polyols to form mixed esters (see under Sulfate esters. Chapter III).
