Antiferromagnetic systems

This tells us that the reduced magnetic entropy change will be lower in an antiferromagnetic system than in an uncoupled one, as can be seen below, as the spins are not fully saturated below the conditions of lowest temperature and strongest field. The antiferromagnetic coupling in Gd(III)7 is also a hindrance, with behaviour similar to Gd(III)5, when compared to the relevant Brillouin functions. 

In the simplest case in which the trivalent Fe-57 ions are completely incorporated into the cooperative antiferromagnetic system of the bulk substrate, the Fe-57 ions are expected to align parallel or antiparallel to the magnetic ions of the substrate in a similar manner as the ferric ions of the substrate. When the trivalent Fe-57 ions are on the surface, however, their magnetization is considered to be reduced to some extent due to reduction in the number of neighboring magnetic metal ions interacting with them. 

Spin polarized, single-particle models can simulate antiferromagnetic systems at the expense of the sacrifice of spatial symmetry. This device is employed in generalizations of density functional theory but is often unsatisfactory for the... 

The quasi-elastic line width obtained by means of inelastic neutron scattering for UCu5 is virtually unaffected by the antiferromagntic transition. The HWHM of the Lorentzian line of = 10 meV considerably exceeds /cBTN. In order to further test this model of intrinsic random fields in the crossover regime to SG order, neutron diffraction experiments on the diluted Heisenberg antiferromagnetic system Eu Srj.j Te are underway (see its preliminary magnetic phase diagram in fig. 7b). Hiraoka et al. (1986) have found the onset of spin-glass order at the dilution concentration (1 —x) =0.11 in similar compounds of the diluted antiferromagnetic system, Eu Ybj Se, by measurements of ac-x Eu-NMR.
