Antibodies carrier-specific

Some synthetic carriers actually are designed to have low immunogenicity on their own to minimize the potential for antibody production against them. When a hapten is coupled to these molecules, the immune response is directed principally toward the modification, not at the carrier. This design approach guides most of the immune response toward the desired target and minimizes the production of carrier-specific antibodies. [Pg.748]

In general, most of published immunochemical methods on chloramphenicol assay are based on antibodies particularly specific for the aromatic ring and the propanediol moiety of chloramphenicol. This is due to the fact that the main chloramphenicol analogues such as thiamphenicol differ from chloramphenicol in one of these parts of the chloramphenicol molecule. To obtain such antibodies, chloramphenicol was linked to the carrier bovine serum albumin at the acyl chain of the molecule by mixed anhydride or carbodiimide reactions (49, 50). In both... [Pg.842]

May indicate non-specific binding of the primary antibody carrier-protein. Perform a protein block with normal serum from the host of the link antibody add 0.05-0.1% TWEEN 20 to wash buffer to decrease protein attachment. [Pg.146]

The biosynthesis of the adenine nucleotide carrier has been studied most extensively in Neurospora crassa. The carrier isolated from Neurospora mitochondria is very similar to the carrier isolated from mammalian mitochondria [78]. Its molecular weight, subunit structure, amino acid composition, hydrophobicity and inhibitor specificity are remarkably similar to the mammalian heart and liver carriers. Specific antibodies to the Neurospora carrier have been raised in rabbits [79]. [Pg.227]

Several groups of branched polypeptide based synthetic compounds were also prepared by introduction of B-cell or T-cell epitope peptides onto the side end of the branches. We have demonstrated that the efficacy of antibody response specific for a Herpes Simplex virus glycoprotein D epitope is highly dependent on the chemical structure (sequence and conformation) ofbranched polypeptide carrier. Recently a fully synthetic prototype conjugate of EAK with two independent T cell epitope peptides of... [Pg.104]

Haptens, a special class of antigen, are small molecules that induce specific antibody production when they are attached to a protein that acts as a carrier. Phosphorylcholine is one such hapten that has been widely used in the investigation of immune responses. The specific binding of this hapten... [Pg.308]
