Anther morphology

Anther morphology of A. celastrifolia is similar to that of Calliandra and shows four divided locules of which each harbours a single polyad (Prenner and Teppner, 2005 Teppner and Stabentheiner, 2007). The finding of orbicules on the inner surface of the locules is another proof of this character in Mimosoideae (c.f. Huismans... [Pg.269]

In this section, the genetic transformation of haploid A. belladonna plantlets derived from anther cultures as well as of the diploid plantlets is described [88]. The Ri plasmid of A. rhizogenes (strain A4) and its insertion and deletion mutants were used for the establishment of haploid and diploid transformed cultures. Discussion is focused on the morphological traits and tropane alkaloid production both in hairy roots and in regenerated transgenic haploid and diploid plantlets. [Pg.708]

Fig 9.5 Flower morphology of Heterocentron elegans (A)-(B), Clidemia octona (C)-(F) and of Dissotis rotundifolia (G)-(ff). (A) Mature flower bud with four petals (removed) and eight stamens. (B) Detail of flower showing a style surrounded by an extension of the ovary wall at the base. The anthers are provided with basal auriculate appendages. (C) Development of sepal lobes surrounding petal primordia. (D) Initiation of stamens and carpels. Note the... [Pg.228]
