Thermal conductivity, anode carbon

Carbon possesses high resistance to corrosion (except against halogens and oxidizing acids) and high electrical and thermal conductivity, but it is brittle. Graphite anodes are used in cathodic protection by impressed current. [Pg.259]

To reduce the formation of carbon deposited on the anode side [2], MgO and Ce02 were selected as a modification agent of Ni-YSZ anodic catalyst for the co-generation of syngas and electricity in the SOFC system. It was considered that Ni provides the catalytic activity for the catalytic reforming and electronic conductivity for electrode, and YSZ provides ionic conductivity and a thermal expansion matched with the YSZ electrolyte. [Pg.614]

Preliminary electrochemical tests of materials obtained have been performed in two types of cells. Primary discharge measurements have been executed in standard 2325 coin-type cells (23 mm diameter and 2.5 mm height) with an electrolyte based on propylene carbonate - dimethoxyethane solution of LiC104. Cathode materials have been prepared from thermally treated amorphous manganese oxide in question (0.70 0.02g, 85wt%.) mixed with a conductive additive (10 % wt.) and a binder (5wt%). Lithium anodes of 0.45 mm thickness have been of slightly excess mass if compared to the stoichiometric amount, so as to ensure maximal possible capacity of a cell and full consumption of the cathode material. [Pg.484]

When conducting a differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) study on the stability of carbonaceous anodes in electrolytes, Tarascon and co-workers found that, before the major reaction between lithiated carbon and fluorinated polymers in the cell, there was a transition of smaller thermal effect at 120 °C, marked peak (a) in Figure 28. They ascribed this process to the decomposition of SEI into Li2C03, based on the previous understanding about the SEI chemical composition and the thermal stability of lithium alkyl carbonates.Interestingly, those authors noticed that the above transition would disappear if the carbonaceous anode was rinsed in DMC before DSC was performed, while the other major processes remained (Figure 28). Thus,... [Pg.115]
