Mononitro derivatives of aniline Dinitro derivatives of aniline Triniifoanilinc (Picramide)... [Pg.341]

Nitration using this reagent was first investigated, by Francis. He showed that benzene and some of its homologues bromobenzene, benzonitrile, benzoyl chloride, benzaldehyde and some related compounds, and phenol were mono-nitrated in solutions of benzoyl nitrate in carbon tetrachloride anilines would not react cleanly and a series of naphthols yielded dinitro compounds. Further work on the orientation of substitution associated this reagent with higher proportions of o-substitution than that brought about by nitric acid this point is discussed below ( 5.3.4). [Pg.77]

The fate of one dye that has been thoroughly studied in the a2o dye Disperse Blue 79 [12239-34-8] (6) (Cl 11345) which may be designated 6-bromo-2,4-dinitro-aniline—>3-(Al,A/-diacetoxyethylamino)-4-ethoxyacetanihde (see Azodyes). [Pg.385]

The compd prepd by Blacksma by nitration of 3,5-dinitro-N-methylaniline and claimed to be the above, was shown by Lothrop to be a pentanitro-N-methyl-aniline (see above)... [Pg.120]

Dinitro-N-nitroso-N-methylaniline (2,6-dinitrophenyl-N-methylnitrosamine), white needles, mp. 115—16° prepd by the action of Na nitrite in acet ac on 2,6-dinitro-N-methyl-aniline (Refs 3 6)... [Pg.121]

In addition to military uses, it should be noted that aromatic nitro compounds such as trifluralin (2,6-dinitro-A,A-dipropyl-4-(trifluoromethyl)aniline and dinoseb (2,4-dinitro-6-5 ec-butylphenol)... [Pg.676]

The sodium and potassium salts of the mono-acz-o-quinonoid form of 2,4-dinitro-aniline readily deflagrate on heating. [Pg.717]

Reductive carbonylation of nitro compounds (in particular aromatic dinitro compounds) is an important target in industry for making diisocyanates, one of the starting materials for polycarbamates. At present diisocyanates are made from diamines and phosgene. Direct synthesis of isocyanates from nitro compounds would avoid the reduction of nitro compounds to anilines, the... [Pg.184]

This technique is used to diazotise anilines carrying two or more electron-withdrawing substituents, such as 2,4-dinitro- and 2-cyano-4-nitro-aniline, as well as aminoanthra-quinones and heteroaromatic amines [4]. Some diazonium salts prepared by this technique, such as those from 6-halogeno-2,4-dinitroanilines, are unstable in water and have to be added directly to the coupling component solution. [Pg.185]

Other common intermediates for azo pigment production are 2,4-dinitro-aniline, acetoacet-o-chloroanilide, acetoacet-o-toluidide, phenyl- and p-tolyl-methylpyrazolone, 2-hydroxy-3-naphthoic acid, Naphtol AS and its derivatives, and 2-chloro-4-aminotoluene-5-sulfonic acid. [Pg.193]

Substituted dinitroanilines (Fig. 10, Table 3) are an important series of selective herbicides commercially introduced in agriculture in the 1960s. Trifluralin is the most prominent member of this series. Nitralin and Benfluralin have also received widespread usage, while Profluralin is a relatively recent herbicide of this class. Dinitro anilines show very low water solubilities. Nitralin and Benfluralin have low vapor pressures and are nonvolatile, while Trifluralin is relatively volatile. All these compounds have been shown to be relatively immobile in soil systems. [Pg.31]

Aniline was smoothly trifluoromethylated with the most powerful dinitro S-salt 39 to give a mixture of o- and p-CFs isomers (Eq. 24). [Pg.332]

Kinetic studies of the trifluoromethylation of aniline with 5-salt 17, dinitro 5-salt 39, and nonheterocyclic 5-salt 29 were carried out and the activation parameters determined (Table I). [Pg.337]

Amine substrates whose rings are strongly deactivated with nitro groups are Al-nitrated with relative ease 2,4-dinitro-A-methylaniline undergoes Al-nitration on treatment with 70 % nitric acid at room temperature. It is known that the Al-nitration of anilines is favoured by... [Pg.145]
