Angelica levisticum

The volatile oil obtained by steam distillation of the fresh root of the plant Levisticum officinale L. Koch syn. Angelica levisticum, Baillon (Fam. Umbelliferae). It is a yellow greenish brown to deep-brown liquid having a strong characteristic aromatic odor and taste. It is soluble in most fixed oils and slightly soluble, with opalescence, in mineral oil, but it is relatively insoluble in glycerin and in propylene glycol. [Pg.33]
