The adverse effects of aspirin consumption on anaemia in pregnancy and blood loss during labour have already been mentioned. Normal labour seems to be initiated and regulated by prostaglandins, and inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis by aspirin prolongs pregnancy and labour.
