Amnion/amniotic membrane

Over the years, a number of clinical applications have been identified for human amnion membrane (HAM) [14-19]. Biomaterial studies of HAM show a high concentration of collagen and hyaluronan as well as small quantities of Proteoglycans in the matrix[20]. Although several studies have been done on Human amniotic membrane, none has explored the feasibility of fabricating it into a 3D scaffold. 

Amnion The extraembryonic membrane which contains the embryo and amniotic fluid. 

The known differences between MZ twins can be substantial. Let s consider the three basic uterine housing arrangements for MZ twins.20 Apart from the placenta, there are two important structures, both membranes, associated with the developing fetus. The amnion is a thin membrane that forms a closed sac around the fetus and contains the amniotic fluid. The chorion is a thick outer membrane involved in the formation of the placenta. 

Fetal membranes include the amniotic fluid, umbilical cord, and placenta. The placenta is made up of the inner amnion layer and outer chorion layer. The placental tissues provide homeostasis and exchange of important nutrients, electrolytes, and gaseous products. They also produce important hormones for the development of the growing fetus. The placenta also provides protection for the fetus by producing maternal antibodies and physical protection by surrounding the fetus in amniotic fluid. 

The basement membrane is the middle layer within the amnion. It is very thin and serves as a permeable barrier to amniotic macromolecules. Proteoglycan and heparin sulfate are abundant in (his layer. These particular macromolecules regulate epithelial proliferative processes and angiogenesis in the membrane construct. ...
