Proper selection of testing conditions revealed an outstanding efficiency of hindered amine stabilizers (HAS) [3,4] in the temperature range below 130°C as long-term heat stabilizers.

Interestingly, bases and water have different effect on stability of BENA and intermediate SENA. Additives of tertiary amines stabilize SENAs (191), whereas bases cause spontaneous decomposition of BENAs. SENAs are hydrolytically unstable, whereas BENAs are inert toward water under neutral conditions. 

The single best piece of evidence for the intermediacy of vinylketene complexes is however the isolation and characterization by Wulff22 of amine-stabilized T74-vinylketenechromium(0) complexes (42) from the thermolysis of the chromium carbene complexes 43, containing a tethered alkyne functionality. This was the first time that a d6-rf-vinylketene complex of any group 6 metal had been isolated. 

Purification yields 200-300 mg of triphenylphosphine-stabilized gold nanoparticles, which should be stored cold (—20°C) in the sofid state, or immediately converted to thiol- or amine-stabilized nanoparticles through subsequent reaction with the appropriate ligand. The particles decompose in solution thus manipulation of the product in solution should be minimized. 

The 1.5-nm nanoparticles readily react with thiol or amine-terminated ligands under mild conditions to yield thiol- or amine-stabilized nanoparticles. Triphenylphosphine-stabilized particles thermally decompose with the production of (PPh3)AuCl and metallic gold.
