American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering

At DTU, he founded and directed the Center for Microbial Biotechnology. Prof. Nielsen has published more than 350 research papers and coauthored more than 40 books, and he is inventor of more than 50 patents. He has founded several companies that have raised more than 20 mUhon in venture capital. He has received numerous Danish and international awards and is member of the Academy of Technical Sciences (Denmark), the National Academy of Engineering (USA), the Royal Danish Academy of Science and Letters, the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering and the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences. [Pg.60]

Since the 2001-2002 academic year, the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) Academic Council has collected data on bachelors, masters, and PhD graduating bioengineering students from US institutions [5], [26]. These four years of data are the most accurate reflection of bioengineering graduation rates and the careers selected. The participation in the survey is voluntary and carried out via email in the fall of each year. [Pg.46]

Chien is a member of all three US National Academies, the Institute of Medicine, the National Academy of Engineering, and the National Academy of Sciences, and is currently one of only nine members who hold membership to all three academies. He is also a member of the Academia Sinica, a founding fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering, an elected member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and a foreign member of the Chinese Academy of Science. [Pg.504]
