More than 10 kinds of neutral two-phase solvent systems have been successfully used for the separation of alkaloids by CCC. Most of the alkaloids from marine sponge—including acridine, pyrroloquinoline, imidazole, (3-carboline alkaloids, etc.—were separated with neutral two-phase solvent systems by HSCCC in the final or middle step of separation (Table 1).
