Alizarin pure blue

Among anthraquiaoae dyes (see Dyes, anthraquinone). Acid Blue 78 [6424-75-5] C2 H25BrN20 S -Na, or Alizarin Pure Blue B, is a wool dye. Bromamine acid [116-81-4] (l-amiao-4-bromoanthraquiaoae-2-sulfonic acid), C24HgBrNO S, is a useful dye iatermediate. A number of bromo anthraquiaoae, pyrathroae, and benzanthrone dyes are known. [Pg.297]

Aminoanthraquinone is used not only in the preparation of 1,4-diatninoan-thraquinone it is the starting material for a series of important anthraquinone dyes of which alizarin pure blue B is an example. The preparation of this dye is briefly as follows ... [Pg.131]

Alizarin pure blue dyes a pure blue quite similar to the color of aniline blue (triphenylrosaniline). Its color strength is high and its fight fastness is very good. It is especially valuable for tin phosphate weighted silk with which it is widely used. [Pg.384]

Qualitative Reactions.—Alizarin is insoluble in water, but soluble in boiling alcohol or in ether it dissolves in sodium hydroxide solution, giving a solution which is violet-blue for pure alizarin, violet for anthra-purpurin, purple-red for flavopuipurin, and red for purpurin. The sul-phonic derivatives are soluble in water and give violet alkaline solutions. [Pg.417]

Blue and yellow shades of alizarin are known the former consists of pretty pure alizarin, while the latter contain both the trioxyanthraquinones isopurpurin and flavopurpurin. Alizarin may be fixed directly on w ool, the shade produced being weak, and of the yellowish-red tone characteristic of free alizarin solutions. This shade has no value in dyeing, and the application of alizarin is solely in form of its brightly coloured aluminium, chromium, and iron lakes. [Pg.85]
