AISI 316 stainless steel

The highly aHoyed austenitic stainless steels are proprietary modifications of the standard AISI 316 stainless steel. These have higher creep—mpture strengths than the standard steels, yet retain the good corrosion resistance and forming characteristics of the standard austenitic stainless steels. Nickel-Base Superalloys. [Pg.119]

Shafts. Shafts shall he suitable for hook-type sleeve. Shaft material shall he (SAE 1045 steel on Duron and 316 stainless steel pumps) or (AISI 316 stainless steel on CD-4MCu pumps and 20 stainless steel pumps). Shaft deflection shall not exceed. 005 at the vertical centerline of the impeller. [Pg.918]

All sterilizers intended for pharmaceutical use are currently made of class AISI 316 stainless steel, including the valves and piping. Other materials may be acceptable only for service components arranged downstream of the sterilizer (e.g., the vacuum pump or the condensate trap). The service elements arranged upstream of the sterilizer (e.g., heat exchangers or water pumps) also must be made of stainless steel. [Pg.3532]

The experimental results obtained and discussed in Ref. [83], showed that in-reactor creep rupture lives of 20% cold worked modified AISI 316 stainless steel are shorter when compared to the results of out-of-reactor creep rupmre tests. [Pg.60]

Under the conditions described in Example 3, it becomes interesting to evaluate how much product loss X can be tolerated after 2 of the 5 years of anticipated life, for example, from roll leaks or a few tube failures, before the selection of type AISI 316 stainless steel could have been justified. [Pg.1007]

Fundamentals on the physical properties of the substrates and on the microfabrication technologies can be found elsewhere [23-25]. First, it has to be considered that the metallic surfaces contacting the process fluids do not catalyze reactions at any appreciable rate. Mills and Nicole [26,27] have shown that the natme of the metal substrate affects combustion reactions. AISI 316 stainless steel, titanium or iron, results in hydrocarbon and oxygen conversions of up to 50% depending on the natme of the metallic material. Similar effects have been found using Cu-based alloys. For these alloys the oxide layer formed upon brass pretreatment results in active ethyl acetate combustion or ethanol dehydrogenation [28,29]. [Pg.84]
