LC-MS/MS System Used and Analytical Conditions An Agilent Technologies (Palo Alto, CA, USA) 1100 series LC-system was used, connected to an API 4000 triple quadrupole mass spectrometer (Applied Biosystems MDS Sciex, Concord, ON, Canada). The mass spectrometer was equipped with an Electrospray ionization source (negative ion mode). [Pg.623]

For active flow delivery, pumps must be used in pressure drive systems. Flow splitting from constant flow rate pumps, such as was done by Bjorkman et al. [58, 59], is not desirable when such small flows are demanded because of inaccuracies and fluctuations. Nowadays, mechanical pump technology has advanced to the point of providing split-less nanoliter per minute flows. Constant flow mechanical pumps, such as the Agilent 1100 series nanoflow pumps and NanoFlow pump from Scivex work in the nanoliter per minute range, are of course commercially available, delivering stable constant flows as low as 20 nL min h These pumps are not amenable to miniaturization, however, and if used would need to be operated... [Pg.277]

FIGURE 27.6 An example of in-line MIMS system used in kinetic studies. This system consists of a constant temperature and well-mixed batch reactor, a high performance hquid chromatography (HPLC) piston pump (Acuflow Series I, Lab Alliance Inc., State College, PA), a direct membrane inlet probe (MIMS Technology), and a Saturn 4D ion trap (Varian) or Hewlett-Packet 5972 quadrupole mass spectrometer (MS) (Agilent Technologies, Santa Clara, CA). The MS operated in the electron impact (El) mode. Reprinted fromNa and Olson [16] with the permission of the American Chemical Society. [Pg.601]

Along the same line, an aluminum capillary lined with quartz coated with carbon black has been evaluated for the analysis of amines. Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), and oil products (25). In an alternative stainless steel column format (non-glass-lined stainless steel) intfoduced by Agilent Technologies, the metal column is deactivated and thus provides inertness similar to that of fused silica. Columns of this nature, termed DB-ProSteel series, have the same o.d. as that of a standard megabore column (0.53 mm i.d.) and require no special ferrules. [Pg.110]
