Product agglomeration

The agglomeration process is a dynamic process where a droplet is created by a two-fluid nozzle, and deposited on the randomly fluidized particle. The binder solvent evaporates, leaving behind the binder. Before all of the solvent is evaporated, other randomized particles form bonds on the wet site. This process is repeated numerous times to produce desired agglomerated product. There are number of process variables that control the agglomeration. Ring roller presses differ from more conventional roll presses because of the convex-concave relationship of the ring and roller in the former case, compared with the convex-convex relationship of two rolls in contact in the latter case. This means that pressure build-up and release are both more gradual in the ring roller press. The slower pressure release is claimed to avoid crack formation in the agglomerated product as it expands more slowly after passing the nip of a ring roller press.

Matter applied to the surface of, for example, agglomerate product which prohibits sticking or growing together typical in the fertilizer industry. The weight of a unit volume of a porous mass. 

Producing agglomerate products with instant characteristics, i.e. material with, as compared with the untreated powder, particularly high solubility, even in cold liquids. 

Name for many different types of agglomerate. Most commonly used in the iron ore industry for spherical agglomerates formed by growth agglomeration in discs, cones, or drums and in the animal feed industry for cylindrical agglomerated products by pelleting. Sometimes synonymous with agglomerate. 

Steps 1 and 2 are accelerated if agglomerated products are used but during step 3 the agglomerate bonds must be destroyed first before the individual... 

The shape, dimensions, and size distribution of the agglomerated product are the most important parameters that also have a decisive influence on the selection of a suitable method. Desirable results of size enlargement may be, for example, free flowing, dust-free granular products with more or less strict requirements on the limits of size distribution, accurately shaped compacts with extreme demands on tolerance, or large, highly densified, and strong briquettes. Many other requirements are conceivable. 

If binders are required to achieve the necessary strength of the agglomerated product, great care must be taken to assure that the binder, often developed during time-consuming test series in equipment vendors laboratories, will be available at the project site in sufficient quantity and at acceptable cost.
