Additive primaries

The so-called hyperbar vacuum filtration is a combination of vacuum and pressure filtration in a pull—push arrangement, whereby a vacuum pump of a fan generates vacuum downstream of the filter medium, while a compressor maintains higher-than-atmospheric pressure upstream. If, for example, the vacuum produced is 80 kPa, ie, absolute pressure of 20 kPa, and the absolute pressure before the filter is 150 kPa, the total pressure drop of 130 kPa is created across the filter medium. This is a new idea in principle but in practice requires three primary movers a Hquid pump to pump in the suspension, a vacuum pump to produce the vacuum, and a compressor to supply the compressed air. The cost of having to provide, install, and maintain one additional primary mover has deterred the development of hyperbar vacuum filtration only Andrit2 in Austria offers a system commercially. [Pg.407]

Equation (4-10) dic tates the possible combinations of terms that may be defined as additional primary functions. Those in common use... [Pg.515]

The reaction of naphthols with ammonia and sodium bisulfite is called the Bucherer reaction. Primary amines can be used instead of ammonia, in which case N-substituted naphthylamines are obtained. In addition, primary naphthylamines can be converted to secondary, by a transamination reaction ... [Pg.865]

It is an aerobic, gram-negative, motile, nonsporing, rod-shaped bacterium. It can survive for many months in surface water and up to 3 months in shaded soil. The natural reservoir is soil and water. This is a biosafety level 2 agent. Additional primary containment and personnel precautions may be indicated for activities with a high potential for aerosol or droplet production. [Pg.514]

Jet fuel formulations used by the U.S. Air Force, Army, and Navy/Marines include JP-4, JP-5, JP-8, or JP-8+100, while the aviation industry utilizes Jet A or A1. Essentially all these fuels are kerosene-based, complex mixtures of hundreds of aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons (C6-C17) that are differentiated based on performance additives. Primary... [Pg.225]

Solid biomass in the form of wood products and wood residues can be imported to a maximum of 30% of the total additional primary input of forestry biomass, which represents about 9.7 Mtoe. [Pg.152]

It should be noted that as of now there is no direct physical evidence (e. g., ESR spectrum) for the existence of the B2 H5 radical and much of the mechanistic discussion of the photochemistry of diborane(6) is speculative. If Eqs. (1) and (2) represent the correct mechanisms the rate of the quantum yields for H2 to B4H10 production would be unity. Although this ratio tends towards unity at lower pressures, this simple mechanism did not explain the ratio of two approached at-higher pressures. In order to explain this, an additional primary process was proposed, i. e., a disproportionation of two B2H5 radicals ... [Pg.7]

In addition, primary amines usually have two bands. The observation of a 3,500-3,100 cm band with a 1,700 cm peak is often indicative of an amide — or carboxylic acid. (If you ve been paying attention, you saw that coming ... [Pg.69]

White light is composed of the additive primary colours of red, green and blue. These primary colours are the ones which cannot be made by mixing any of the other two together. Mixing light of two of these primary colours in equal proportions produces the following colours ... [Pg.76]

If objective variables are considered by the investigator when making a global assessment, then those objective variables should be considered as additional primary, or at least important secondary, variables. ... [Pg.23]

There is probably little need for additional primary regulation in either Europe or the United States. However, it is likely that the existing legal instruments such as the Clean Drinking Water Act in the United States and the Water Framework... [Pg.98]

The intermediate(s) responsible for the residual absorption a3 could either be additional primary photoproduct(s) or secondary produces), such as Ij, which have already been formed but are further transformed much more slowly [121, 123] than the I700 and I700 species possessing microsecond lifetimes. A more accurate evaluation of the data was not possible since very low absorbances had to be monitored and the decay time of a3 was beyond the nano- to millisecond resolution of the experimental set-up used [113]. [Pg.255]

The synthesis of cyclopropyl compounds containing the olefin replacement for the amide bond but without the additional primary chiral amino substituent were prepared by modified Julia olefination procedures. Addition of the benzothiazole sulfone 44 to aldehyde 39 gave trityl protected olefins in a 1 1 ratio. These... [Pg.212]

Koskikallio (42) observed this trend for values of log(ks/kn2o)sN the attack of Mel, MeBr and MeCl by a variety of species, including the sulfur nucleophiles S2O32 and SO32. The data assembled here extend this observation to HS and C6H5S, as well as to several additional primary haloaliphatic substrates. [Pg.130]

The chromatographic separation of positional isomers (26-31), geometrical isomers (27,32-36) and enantiomers (37-49) has been achieved by utilizing the concerted action of inclusion complex formation, additional primary and secondary hydrogen-bond formation and steric hindrance effects between the solutes and the cyclodextrins (11,12,14-23,50). There is an abundant literature on the analytical applications of cyclodextrin-silicas (13-50), but not on their preparative chromatographic use. [Pg.182]

Thus, molecular elimination of H2 occurs. The only alternative to (106) would be the production of PH(A3n) and two H atoms. This process is energetically impossible.111 An additional primary process giving PH2 and H is also observed. [Pg.204]

Additionally, primary and secondary normal stress coefficients and j/2 are defined by the respective relations... [Pg.56]
