ADAPTS program

RF Technical Physics and Automation Research Institute is ready to production and supply computer industrial tomograph, scanning devices, measuring units, soft-hardware interfaces connecting the measuring units with computer and the adapted program complexes for the industrial tomography.

To adapt Program B for use with STEPIT it was necessary to convert it to Program C. The labeled COMMON (C0MM0N/0NE...) statement was used to place variables required by STEPIT in COMMON... 

The structures were quite diverse, ranging from those with simple alkyl ether attachments, to complex cyclized derivatives. The entire set could not be modeled and analyzed, so to obtain a representative sampling of the compounds, several molecular connectivity descriptors (12) were computed using the ADAPT program...

Sufficiently accurate thermodynamic models used for calculating these equilibria are not available In simulation programs. It Is generally not recommended to use the models proposed. Only a specific study based on accurate experimental results and using a model adapted to the case will succeed. 

One very popular technique is an adaptation of the Born model for orbital-based calculations by Cramer and Truhlar, et. al. Their solvation methods (denoted SMI, SM2, and so on) are designed for use with the semiempirical and ah initio methods. Some of the most recent of these methods have a few parameters that can be adjusted by the user in order to customize the method for a specific solvent. Such methods are designed to predict ACsoiv and the geometry in solution. They have been included in a number of popular software packages including the AMSOL program, which is a derivative of AMPAC created by Cramer and Truhlar. 

Researchers at the MoneU Center (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) are using a variety of electrophysical and biochemical techniques to characterize the ionic currents produced in taste and olfactory receptor cells by chemical stimuli. These studies are concerned with the identification and pharmacology of the active ion channels and mode of production. One of the techniques employed by the MoneU researchers is that of "patch clamp." This method aUows for the study of the electrical properties of smaU patches of the ceU membrane. The program at MoneU has determined that odors stimulate intraceUular enzymes to produce cycUc adenosine 3, 5 -monophosphate (cAMP). This production of cAMP promotes opening of the ion channel, aUowing cations to enter and excite the ceU. MoneU s future studies wiU focus on the connection of cAMP, and the production of the electrical response to the brain. The patch clamp technique also may be a method to study the specificity of receptor ceUs to different odors, as weU as the adaptation to prolonged stimulation (3).
