Acetic acid, zinc salt.dihydrate

ACETIC ACID, ZINC SALT (557-34-6 5970-45-6, dihydrate) Zn(CjH302)2 Zn(C2H302)2 2H20 Noncombustible solid. Moisture may cause hydrolysis or deconq)osition. Aqueous solution is a base. Incompatible with strong oxidizers, acids, oleum, strong bases. Thermal decomposition above 1472°F/800°C releases oxides of zinc and carbon and acetic acid fumes. [Pg.12]

CAS 557-34-6 (anhyd.) 5970-45-6 (dihydrate) EINECS/ELINCS 209-170-2 UN 9153 (DOT UN anhyd. )E650 Synonyms Acetic acid, zinc salt Dicarbomethoxy zinc Zinc diacetate Classification Aliphatic organic compd. [Pg.4741]

For room-temperature reaction conditions without the addition of extra base, an appropriate metal salt (often the acetate) is chosen to drive the reaction and concentrated solutions are used. Terephthalic acid (254 mg, 1.53 mmol, Aldrich) is dissolved in 20 mL of DMF in a 50-mL Erlenmeyer flask, and zinc acetate dihydrate (718 mg, 3.27 mmol, Alfa Aesar) is dissolved in a separate container in 20 mL of DMF via vigorous shaking and sonication. The zinc salt solution is added dropwise to the terephthalic acid solution flask over 15 min while stirring with a Teflon-coated magnetic stirring bar. A white precipitate is formed almost immediately, and the solution is stirred for 45 min. Powder X-ray diffraction is used to confirm phase pure MOF-5. This procedure has successfully been scaled up to 3.37 g. [Pg.105]

Dihydrate, crystallizes from di] acetic add faint, acetous odor astringent taste slightly efflorescent, d 1.735 mp 237. One gram dissolves in 2.3 ml water, 1.6 ml boiling water, 30 ml alcohol, about 1 ml boiling alcohol. The aq soln is neutral or slightly acid to litmus pH about 5-6. Keep in well-closed containers. Parks [17] described an absorbent polymer prepared by copolymerizing acrylic acid with a divinyl crosslinker such as tetraethyleneglycol diacrylate, at a concentration of about 10% in aqueous solution, with sodium persulfate as initiator at 60 C. The polymer was neutralized with sodium hydroxide and then mixed with a solution of divalent ion salt, such as zinc acetate dihydrate. The product was dewatered with methanol and then oven dried to a solid product. The product was said to exhibit no gel blocking when in contact with water. Gel blocking often occurs with high swelling capacity, low modulus and sticky products. Particles that are first to contact the fluid swell very rapidly and cause lumps with unswollen particles, which swell no further due to reduced water transport through the gel. [Pg.34]
