Academic institutions, safety practices

AIHA serves the needs of occupational and environmental health and safety professionals who practice industrial hygiene in industry, government, labor, academic institutions, and independent organizations. 

Companies that care about safety and security are always looking for well-trained employees. That presents an opportunity for academic institutions to foster strong safety and security practices and build relationships with industry to ensure employment of their students, and enhance the culture of safety and security compliance within academic laboratories. 

Republic, but also within the European research area. Increasingly employers are demanding a high level of professional competence in their safety and health advisers, calling for them to hold recognised qualifications and have a wide range of technical expertise. These are evidenced by Chartered Membership of the Institution for which proof of a satisfactory level of academic knowledge of the subject reinforced by a number of years of practical experience and skills development in the field, assessed by an Initial Professional Development (IPD).
