Using a clean dry Pasteur pipette, transfer the remaining organic layer into a small test tube (10 X 75 mm) and dry over anhydrous granular sodium sulfate (see Technique 12, Section 12.9). Transfer the dry halide solution with a clean, dry Pasteur pipette to a small, dry leak-proof vial, taking care not to transfer any solid. Be sure the cap is screwed on tightly. Do not store the liquid in a container with a cork or a rubber stopper, because these will absorb the halides.
