Utkina, N. K. (2009). Antioxidant activity of aromatic alkaloids from marine sponges Aaptos aaptos and Hyrtios sp. Chem. Nat. Compd. 6, 849-853. [Pg.152]

The Okinawan yellow sponge Aaptos aaptos contained a new type of alkaloid, aaptamine (220), having a 17/-benzo[[Pg.72]

Aaptamine (103), which is a cytotoxic benzonaphthyridine alkaloid isolated from the sponge Aaptos aaptos, induces differentiation in chronic leukemia cells (33). Schulzeine A (104) is a novel dihydroquinoline alkaloids isolated from the sponge Penares schulzei that inhibits glycosidases (12). [Pg.1166]

Such behavior may indicate the possibility that one is dealing with a mixture of lectins. Lectins from the snails Axinella polypoides and Aaptos papillata each were found to be mixtures of three lectins, two of which were obtained in purified form the sites of the two lectins from each species showed some differences in specificity, and one of the lectins from Axinella (lectin I) was strongly mitogenic for human peripheral blood T cells and to a lesser extent for human B cells. [Pg.30]

This compound also occurs in a number of related Haplosclerid sponges, such as Topsentia spp., Monanthus ciocalyptoides, Foliolina sp., mdiXestospongia spp., as well as from Aaptos sp., Trachyopsis sp., and two species of Pseudaxynissa... [Pg.383]

Aaptamine is an alkaloid isolated from the marine sponge Aaptos suberi-toides and it is known to have the ability to upregulate p21 transcription in a p53-independent manner. P-53 is the tumor suppressor, and p21 is a negative regulator of the cell cycle control. Aaptamine derivatives are also... [Pg.365]

Harvested initially in the Clenan Archipelago (Southern Brittany) and first regarded as specific to that place, this species would in fact he Aaptos papillata, which is common along the Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts of France. [Pg.640]

A-nor stanols were also found in notable quantities (30% of free sterols) in Aaptos papUlatus (Hadromerida, Suberitidae) harvested in the Mediterranean (Velosaotsy, PhD thesis, Nantes, 2005, and 4th European Conference on Marine Natural Products, Paris, 12-16 September 2000). The genus name Anthoarcuata is one of many synonyms of the genus name Antho, whidi is now the only one accepted in Systema Porifera. [Pg.645]
