A Preparation of 2,6-Dimethylaniline

Concentrated hydrochloric acid and glacial acetic acid are corrosive liquids that may cause burns if allowed to come in contact with your skin. Wear latex gloves when handling these chemicals. Should contact occur, flood the affected area with water and then rinse it thoroughly with dilute aqueous sodium bicarbonate solution. 

Be certain there are no open flames in the vicinity when you are working with diethyl ether. Use flameless heating when concentrating ethereal solutions.
