7V-acetylglucosamine

The Css polyprenol (154) obtained from leaves of Magnolia campbelUi has been shown to be a mixture of cis- and /ran -isomers. The preparation of dolichyl phosphate (155) by a pea cell-free extract has been described. Evidence has been obtained that a lipid, containing 7V-acetylglucosamine, which was obtained from Phaseolus vulgaris hypocotyls, consists of a mixture of the dolichol (156) derivatives dolichyl pyrophosphate N-acetylglucosamine and dolichyl pyrophosphate di-N-acetylchitobiose. ... [Pg.206]

A considerable effort has been expended, in several laboratories, on the kinetics of interactions involving galactosyltransferase. The results of Morrison and Ebner (1971a) were not in accord with any mechanism whereby substrates might add in any order, either wholly or partially random. The simplest mechanism, consistent with their kinetic data, was an ordered mechanism, whereby additions to galactosyltransferase proceed in the order Mn(II), UDP-galactose, and 7V-acetylglucosamine. [Pg.256]

UDP-7V-acetylglucosamine (uridine diphosphate), nikkomycins act as potent competitive inhibitors of chitin synthase and exhibit potent fungicidal, insecticidal, and acaricidal activities [320]. Nikkomycin X and Z, isolated as major components, contain the hydroxypyridylhomothreonine (HPHT) moiety, the aminohexuronic acid, and a nucleoside moiety N-glycosidically linked to 4-formyl-imidazolin-2-one or a uracil base, respectively [321, 322]. [Pg.495]

UDP-Glc. UDP-GlcNAc is obtained via an analogous incubation with UDP-7V-acetylglucosamine pyrophosphorylase and UTP, and a pyrophosphatase. [Pg.636]

The branching pattern of complex A-glycans is controlled by a series of A-acetyl-glucosaminyltransferases numbered GnT I-VI [12, 99]. These enzymes transfer an 7V-acetylglucosamine residue from UDP-GlcNAc to different sites on the tri-man-nose core structure Man(al-6 [Man(al-3)]ManP, as shown in Scheme 8. [Pg.696]
