Zinc photophysical properties

The zinc(II) complexes of meso-tetraphenyltetrabenzoporphyrin (38) and of meso-tetraphenyl-tetranaphthoporphyrin (39) have been prepared 173-175 some photophysical properties of this interesting series are given in Table 11176 Photooxidation of zinc(II) porphyrins causes cleavage of the macrocycle with formation of bilinone derivatives.122 206 207... [Pg.980]

Sanders and coworkers have prepared a cyclic molecule featuring two zinc porphyrin donors linked to two pyromellitimide acceptors as a precursor to 32 [99, 100]. The photochemical and photophysical properties were not discussed. [Pg.144]

Functionalization of Ceo with a porphyrin on one side and with a pyridyl ligand on the other side leads to the supramoleciflar triad 39 formed by a covalent-CO ordination approach (Fig. 31a) [18,20,24]. The photophysical properties of this system were studied in detail and show that energy-transfer occurs from the singlet excited state of the free-base porphyrin to the zinc(ll) porphyrin. A charge separated state with formation of the Ceo radical anion and the zinc(II) porphyrin radical cation is produced at an increased efficiency upon complex formation of the array. [Pg.33]

The photophysical properties of [2]catenane 50", of the copper(I) catenate 49 " and of the models 51", 44 and 38" have been investigated in acetonitrile solutions [83]. Compared to the [2]rotaxanes addressed in the previous section, 40 " and 41", the center-to-center distance between donor and acceptor has increased from ca. 1.9 nm to ca. 2.6 nm and the zinc porphyrin is differ-... [Pg.248]

To probe the photophysical properties of the double-stranded complexes, the corresponding zinc derivatives were also made. The assembly technique allows the production of freebase and zinc derivatives within the one com-... [Pg.280]

The well-known coordination abilities of zinc porphyrins allowed the formation of many interesting metallosupramolecular structures, which have been reviewed elsewhere. There has been a continuous effort toward the organization of zinc phthalocyanines in condensed phases owing to their outstanding photophysical properties, but these macrocycles have been shown to possess worse coordinating ability than zinc porphyrins. Thus, most of the work described so far involves the coordination of zinc phthalocyanine to other chromophores in order to study their photophysical properties. [Pg.1051]

The flexible ligand bis-pyrenyl-terpyridine 1 was synthesised, and used to prepare zinc complexes (Fig. 3.12), then their photophysical properties were studied. [Pg.62]
