Zidovudine lipoatrophy

Weight gain has been used as a marker of recovery from stavudine-associated lipoatrophy in 114 Rwandan women [Orj. Replacement with tenofovir + abacavir was associated with a progressive increase in weight, but zidovudine was associated with progressive weight loss. The authors suggested that alternatives such as tenofovir + abacavir should be preferred to zidovudine in such cases.
