X-ray results

For a second active carbon, AG, the DR plot was convex to the logio(p7p) This carbon was believed from X-ray results to have a wider distribution of pores. It was found that the isotherms of both benzene and cyclohexane could be interpreted by postulating that the micropore system consisted of two sub-systems each with its own Wq and and with m = 2 ... 

In Figure 3-6 are plotted the k values (ordinates) for various chlorinated hydrocarbon polymers, the chlorine contents as determined analytically after fusion with sodium peroxide being the abscissas. The x-ray results were obtained in about one tenth the time required for the conventional analyses. The experimental points lie close to the solid line in Figure 3-6. The deviations from the solid line may be due to any one or any combination of the following causes. 

The percentages for the individual samples were calculated on the assumption that the x-ray results for the mean corresponded to the composition as established by wet analysis. 

Further simulations on monolayers of perfluorinated chains were performed by Schmidt et al. [375,376]. Part of the stimulus for this work was x-ray results on these systems showing evidence for azimuthal ordering in these systems—in other words, the possibility of the monolayer analog of rotator transitions, which are well known in bulk alka-...

Exposure of elements to a broad spectrum of X-rays results in the ejection of electrons from their inner shells. Electrons from outer shells falling into these vacancies emit radiation of specific wavelengths (see Figure 14.13). Analysis of this radiation, referred to as X-ray fluorescence (XRF), allows for the identification of the element from which the photon is emitted. Instruments for carrying out this analysis can be either laboratory sized or can be handheld...

The last molecule considered in this parameterization study was 1,5,9,13-tetraazacyclohexadecane (7). A comparison between MM2 and X-ray results (see structure 7)5 reveals good fit between theory and experiment (the X-ray C—C bond lengths are shorter than the MM2 corresponding ones, partly since the data were collected at room temperature with no corrections for thermal motion).
